Post 2: Welp. Its official: Curly Girls Rock!
Over 65,000 attendees strolled through the doors of the Georgia International Convention Center for the first day of the World Natural Hair Show. I was overwhelmed by the dazzling styles and innovative product lines that lined the expo floor, but the one thing that truly caught my eye was all of the natural gear. No, not the products or the tools, but the apparel dedicated to showcasing natural hair. Now you don’t have to be content to just walk around with a coiling tower of locs or a cloud of curls, but you can show your natural pride in the form of shirts, pillows, earrings, bags and more.
Natural Girls Rock
Let’s start with NaturalGirlsRock.com, a company so dedicated to creating community and building a movement that each of their shirts comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a unique number. Wearers of these shirts are not simply rocking their natural pride on their sleeve, but are purchasing a piece of natural hair history.
Natural Girls Rock!
For the few doubters out there, here’s the certificate!
Thank God I’m Natural
Chris Tia Donaldson, author of Thank God I’m Natural (a book that all naturals or people thinking about going natural should read”> just debuted a few new t-shirt designs at the show with her team.

Uncle Funky’s Daughter
Uncle Funky’s Daughter has a entire menu of t-shirts to accompany their Texas-based product line. Here two attendees show off their selections.
100% natural – tees, too.
NaturallyKinky, Yes Lioness, Natural De’Javu
I was also loving the t-shirts from NatuallyKinky Apparel and Yes Lioness.com who each offer a colorful platter of tees for all shapes and sizes. Natural De’Javu is part vintage store and part t-shirt company, which lends the shirts a really unique retro-graphic feel.
Respect the crown.
Retro ‘fro tees.
Need to class up the casa?
Not the t-shirt type? Not to worry, there’s natural gear for you too! Decorate your home with some of ChicPeazy’s patterned pillows featuring beautifully rendered natural hair silhouettes. Or keep your earrings organized on one of these carved wooden natural hair earring holders.
Love these pillows!
Wooden, carved jewelry organizers.
Coincidence? I think not.
I was particularly delighted to find my twin on this painted bag. What up flower power!!
They must have known I was coming!
I myself nabbed an awesome, awesome (awesome”> black hoodie from B. Natural Apparel that I will be rocking constantly when I’m out of this Georgian heat.
A bit hot for down south, but just right for west coast temps.
It was really great that all of these designers are finding their niche in the natural market. I also love that we now have iconic images that we can wear to represent US. The natural revolution is full throttle and now we’ve got the goods to show it!
