The highly anticipated film from Great Gerwig stars a slew of celebrities from Margot Robbie to Ryan Gosling who will be playing the titular Barbie and Ken characters. However, Greta decided to pay an ode to not only the lengthy collection that is the Barbie doll, but also the beauty of diversity in bodies, culture, and hair with new characters.
Each Barbie is unique, charismatic, and vivacious and we’ve been treated to seeing all of their looks on the worldwide press tour, but Issa Rae has been a standout with all of her looks. Issa Rae has been the President of our television sets for the past few years with hits like Insecure, Rap Shit, and an array of films, but now she’s playing President Barbie in the new movie. Barbie L.A. Premiere
Issa brought all the class in this plunging cutout velvet dress for the Los Angeles Barbie premiere where she donned an upscale ponytail with a soft wave and an embellished swoop on the side of her head. It’s stylish, sleek, and the perfect addition to her overall look which is giving Barbie goes Hollywood.
Barbie London Premiere
This style is pure summer fun and is giving us beach Barbie vibes as Issa rocks a lower crimped ponytail with this two-piece look. During the day while she interviewed she kept it simple with a see-through pink top and jean pleated mini skirt before changing into a fun look in the evening. The crimps are a perfect throwback to 80s and 90s Barbie looks and is playful, and simple, and allow her face to take center stage. The additional length added to the pony so the crimps are visible is a fun addition to the ponytail and completes the look.
Barbie European Premiere
The hot pink mini dress is giving sexy, sultry, and chic as Issa makes her way onto the pink carpet at the European premiere of Barbie. She’s going for an effortless style with straight hair tucked behind her ears so it frames her face. Her hair is looking sleek and compliments her look perfectly which she also replicated during the evening when she swapped out her dress for a 1960s mod look.

Can we have a moment for this stunning two-piece look that channels a couture Barbie vibe? Her stylish updo is a great addition to this look that gives elevated Barbie chic with a large dose of sophistication.
