The Top Natural Hair Wedding Trend of 2017
Finding the perfect wedding day hairstyle to align with your wedding dress, theme and location, can be one of the most daunting tasks for us naturalistas.
In 2017, many brides are leaning towards a more classic and subtle natural hairstyle that will reduce concerns throughout their wedding day.
Since preparation is key to a stress-free bride, we reached out to natural hair expert Darrius Peace of Hayah Beauty to share some 2017 natural hair trends and tips for your wedding day.

What type of styles are brides requesting the most this year?

This year brides are requesting naturally textured chignon styles. This variation of buns pinned off of the nape offers a classic highlight of the face while also providing options that do not interrupt the bridal headpiece; i.e. blushers, veils or fascinators.

What natural hairstyles do you think will trend for 2018 brides?

The forecasted style options for 2018 brides go from one end of the spectrum to the other. Brides will either request simple chic bun styles or highly elaborate up styles that incorporate numerous buns with sleek edges.

How do you help brides select their wedding day hairstyle?

The selection process and determined by the bride’s personality and her dress style. Brides with more minimal and laid back personalities usually opt for easy style options that will translate into their honeymoon vacation. Brides who are a bit more elaborate will typically opt for a style option for the ceremony that will transition into a different style for the reception.  These brides will typically keep it jazzy by wearing wig options for their honeymoon. All of these options are great and work well for various bride personalities.

What type of hairstyles do you recommend for a bride that has recently big chopped with a TWA?

Brides who have recently “big chopped” with a TWA, can definietely sport a sophisticated coil set. This style option is ideal as it offers enhanced definition to any curl texture, while also offering longevity and low maintenance, easily transitioning into a honeymoon style.

What’s your favorite wedding hairstyle for loc’d brides?

I love sweeping Locs to the side with cascading curls. This allows us to showcase refinement and elegance in a style option that society will typically frown upon. I find beauty in knowing that this style option redefines bridal standards.

For those who would prefer a protective style, without losing the natural hair look, what style option would you recommend that’s trending in 2017?

I believe that every natural style should be a protective style. So, instead of using the term “protective style “, I like to use the term “preservation style”. This is a more accurate description because these style options help to retain growth and healthy condition. Curly/wavy sew in extensions are really great options Bruce they offer beautiful texture and definition, while also creating a beautiful frame on the bride’s face. These style options also transition into the honeymoon beautifully.

5 Gorgeous Wedding Hair Ideas with Flowers

Wedding hair is extremely versatile when it comes to styling your hair for your wedding day. Hairstyles and accessories are a beautiful way to express a bride’s style and personality, and flowers are one of the least expensive bridal accessories you can find.

I am delighted to collaborate with stylist  to find an alternative to your traditional headpiece with floral adornments. You can choose big or small flowers in different colors and hues or keep it simple with greenery with these 5 unique ways to incorporate flowers into your wedding day hair.

Baby’s breath

My favorite flower is baby’s breath, and I love it even more when it’s used for beauty purposes. Adding baby’s breath to your mane provides a soft and romantic touch that doesn’t interfere with your hairstyle. Baby’s breath can be added anywhere in your hair, which is the reason why this floral piece is so awesome. Intertwine your curls with baby’s breath, you can literally add them wherever you like.

Floral crown

A flower headpiece should be an accent to your style, not the focus. If you would like to steer away from bold colored florals, there are plenty of neutral flowers to choose from. Beautiful whites, creams and blush pink flowers will allow you to remain uniform with your ivory or white wedding dress. Whether your wedding will have a casual beach theme or a more formal, traditional look and feel, almost any flower can be incorporated and molded to suit your wedding style. This can also be an easy element for a bride to add in her accent color without being overbearing.

Floral veil

If you’re not too fond of placing flowers into your hair, you may love the look of adding florals to your wedding veil. You can display them as if you were adding crystals or intricate lace. Styling your veil with small florals using pins or glue will accent your wedding style with ease.

Always research your flower of choice

Be sure to research which flowers would be great for you hair based on the style you choose. Although you may love dandelions, they will wilt within a matter of hours and destroy your wedding day style. Some great flowers to choose are succulents, orchids, roses and amaryllis, just to name a few.

4 Tips For Styling Your Tapered Cut On Your Wedding Day

Engagement season is here! Unbeknownst to you, your spouse maybe planning a proposal surprise of the century. Nearly 40% of proposals tend to take place between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day. Newly engaged couples everywhere will start to plan their wedding day and many bride-to-be’s will think, what shall I do with my hair?

We’ve teamed up with natural hair care expert and cosmetologist Sheri  Duke to share how you can style one of the most popular cuts on natural hair, into wedding day perfection with these 4 tips.

1. The Color

Let’s take your cut to the next level with color. Knowing what tone of color to choose or if you want a full head of color can be a bit of a challenge. Definitely consult with you hairstylist or colorist to achieve your desired style. Soft tones such as honey blondes, browns and auburn can brighten up your face. Adding a few soft highlights can give your hair more of a shape. It’s best to stay away from bright loud colors that will cause a distraction from your gorgeous gown.

2. The Style

This is where the fun begins with different styling methods. This all depends on which length tapered cut you choose. Very low tapered cuts: I suggest using the sponge/palm method. Mid length tapered cuts: can be finger coiled at night and separated in the morning. Longer hair near the crown of the head can be two-strand twisted or a braid-out.

3. The Product

To achieve some of the styles above, be sure you have the right styling products. If you’re stylist is creating this look for your wedding day, be sure to request the name of each product he/she is using.  This way, you will know which products to use for a touch-up during your honeymoon. Using curl enhancing products is a great way to achieve defined curls. Curly hair looks best with minimal product distribution insuring your hair isn’t weighed down. My favorites are: curl enhancing products, styling mousse and a light weight oil.

4. Accessories

Finish your wedding day look with a headpiece. Starting with the birdcage veil, an alternative to the tradition mid length or cathedral style veils, its sophisticated yet playful and edgy and can be the most fitting to show off your tapered cut.

I’m also a lover of crowns and tiara’s, whether it’s full of diamonds or dainty flowers. These pieces can come very small or very large and it’s entirely up to you. Tiara’s can be worn 2 ways; on top of the head (crown area”> or across the forehead. Make sure the style of your hair accessories blends well with your wedding gown style. It’s best to try on the full outfit before making the purchase. Lastly, if wedding hair accessories aren’t your thing, adding a few baby breathes in your hair can do the trick.

We hope you can take these tips and create the perfect tapered cut for your wedding day. You can find more NaturalHairBride wedding inspiration by visiting our website, www.NaturalHairBride.com.
