In honor of Movember, RealBeauty compiled their list (let us know who we’re missing”> of the dreamiest guys with mustaches, beards, goatees, or just that perfect 5 o’clock stubble. Drool on, ladies, drool on.
Ben Affleck and George Clooney
Two hairy heartthrobs for the price of one! We’ll take George Clooney however we can get him, but it has been scientifically proven hat Ben Affleck’s movie success directly correlates to the length of his beard (do you remember how bald-faced he was in Gigli?”>. Here they are (Clooney was the producer”> celebrating their Best Picture 2012 win for “Argo” in all their bearded glory.
Blair Underwood
We admittedly still think about when this fine bearded fellow used a huge cookie as a vehicle to tell Miranda he loved her on “Sex and the City.” She may have used it as a vehicle to dump him and get back together with Steve (after she ate the whole thing”>, but we would’ve gladly been there to console him.
Brad Pitt
We’ve lived through and closely followed this father-of-six’s facial hair evolution from baby face to fuzz and back again. We’re sure we’re on the same page as Angelina in desperately trying to forget the crazy goatee beard of 2009 (do you remember when he put beads in it?”>, but this salt-and-pepper goodness and James Dean-esque ‘do circa 2010 has us on Team Stubble.
Ethan Hawke
Is it just us or does this actor look younger than ever? Yes, this picture was taken in 2013. We want our dudes to get his grooming secrets, while we tap into his fountain of youth.
Garrett Hedlund
We love Garrett Hedlund because A”> His beard. B”> He refers to Kirsten Dunst as “My Lady.” Sometimes we like to imagine him saying that to us in his Southern accent from “Country Strong.”
Gerard Butler
This Scottish actor does not need facial hair to prove his manliness, but we are certainly not hating on that extra dose.
Jake Gyllenhaal
We recently saw a photo of this hottie without his signature beard and we are still trying to get the shocking image out of our head. Facial hair is this man’s natural state.
Javier Bardem
The character Anton Chigurh in “No Country for Old Man” gave us nightmares for many reasons, but mainly because we hated seeing this Spanish actor without his stubble.
Jeff Bridges
What makes this man Hollywood royalty? His famous family? His acting chops? His “The Dude” status? Those kind eyes? Or that stellar facial hair?
Drake
This rapper’s perfectly manicured stubble almost makes us forget that he was a character on “Degrassi: The Next Generation.”
Burt Reynolds
This 1970s and 80s sex symbol’s mustache has us dreaming of cold winter nights and bearskin rugs. Here he is in 1990, still looking good 16 years after that iconic “Cosmopolitan” photo shoot.
Johnny Depp
We’ve all seen this looker clean shaven, and yes, his naked face is a thing of beauty. But it seems that having a little more than a ‘stache (like he does here in 2005″> is his chosen off-camera hair situation—and we’re totally okay with that. Can we also mention we would have chosen a more recent photo, but it is next to impossible to find a photo of the reclusive star when he is not wearing glasses with colored lenses. Not so okay with that.
Tom Selleck
You cannot talk about iconic facial hair without mentioning Mr. Magnum P.I. All that hairy goodness even makes his hip-hugging bell bottoms and purple floral shirt look manly.
Snoop Dogg
Some haters gonna hate, but this goateed rapper circa 2005 (sorry Snoop Lion”> is fine in our book.
Colin Farrell
This Irish bad boy owns the 5 o’clock shadow and puppy dog stare. Here he is demonstrating his power in 2011.
Jon Hamm
Don Draper’s slicked hair and close-shaven face will forever weaken our knees, but we’re into the off-set man when he skips a shave or seven. We still get to feel the power of those piercing eyes, but we think this guy might be a little nicer to us.
Justin Timberlake
JT has gone from fresh-faced, boy band ringleader to manly megastar before our eyes—and like most every thing he does, he grew that beard right.
Laurence Fishburne
He may have since fallen from hot man grace, but Laurence Fishburne circa 1991 “Boyz in the Hood” is a bearded babe we are still thinking about.
Leonardo Dicaprio
It took this A-list actor years to grow out of his baby face. But since he filled out and started growing facial hair he’s never looked back, and neither have we.
Mark Ruffalo
This actor is the perfect mix of good guy and bad boy. He might take you on his motorcycle or home to meet his parents—and with the beard he sported in 2010, we’d let him do either.
Michael Fassbender
This German-born, Irish-raised actor recently admitted that he has never thought of himself as good looking. While we do appreciate his modesty, we love his chiseled face and ginger beard even more. Swoon.
Patrick Dempsey
McDreamy lives up to his name no matter the state of his facial hair—but we prefer him with a 5 o’clock shadow and a glint in his eye à la the Emmys 2008.
Robert Downey, Jr.
It’s not just anyone who can pull-off facial hair that looks like the “V for Vendetta” Guy Fawkes mask and still look hot. But like this former bad boy, something that is so wrong can sometimes be so right.

We called upon Halli Bivona at the John Barrett Salon at Bergdorf Goodman to show us how to keep our hair healthy and on-trend this summer with easy ‘dos that don’t call for styling tools.
5 No Heat Hairstyles
Textured Ponytail
For this look, it’s best to use your fingers (instead of a brush”> to rake your hair back. This will make hair seem artfully undone, instead of messy.
“I generally like my textured ponies to be mid to high in height,” says Bivona. “Lightly tease at the base and middle of ponytail to add a bit of volume and scrunch with a texture spray. I love to use Shu Uemura Liquid Fabric because it sprays the perfect amount every time.”
Beach Waves
Sophisticated Chignon
Though we love a messy topknot, we’re thinking this summer it’s time to keep it classy.
“To make this look more modern, I like to slick hair back into a mid-height ponytail. Twist the ponytail and then wrap hair around the base. Finish the look by securing the chignon with bobby pins and you’re good to go.”
Side Fishtail Braid
Braids are always timeless, and a great way to avoid using hot tools. To make a side fishtail braid, bring hair over one shoulder and split it into two sections. Then, take a small subsection from the outside of the two sections and crisscross the small pieces. Continue to the end and tie off with an elastic.
“To give it a romantic feel I like to pull on the braid and rough it up between my hands,” suggests Bivona.
Bouncy “Faux” Blow
Get retro-glam without a blowdryer! Start by using large foam or plastic rollers, take one inch sections of damp hair and place the roller at the end of your hair. Roll down to your scalp and secure with a bobby pin. Start at the top and roll sections away from your face and under. Once you’re done, wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf to set. After a night of beauty sleep, remove rollers and voila!
With the weather heating up, it’s more important than ever to introduce some humidity-fighting products into your makeup and hair routine. We’ve rounded up what you need to keep looking (and feeling!”> fresh this summer.

5 Things to Do Before Bed
Before You Hit the Sheets
The single most crucial thing to do before going to sleep? Wash your face! “Over the years it’s come to my attention that more people than you think do not wash their face at night,” says Williams. “This is the most important thing you can do for your skin. If you can’t use a mild cleanser to strip your skin of pollution and makeup, try a pre-moistened cleansing cloth (like POND’s Wet Cleansing Towelettes Evening Soothe“>. Follow this with a nighttime moisturizing cream. It helps if you put both on your nightstand so it’s right there before you go to bed.”
Bye, Bye Blemishes
“If you have a big day ahead of you, the last thing you want to wake up to is a blemish,” says Williams. She recommends a system like Tria Clarifying Blue Light to stimulate oxygen under the skin and clear the affected area fast. For a cheaper solution, try a heavy-hitting acne system like Proactiv. “When you wake up, make sure to use an exfoliating face wash to get rid of any skin feathering or dry spots.”
Tick Back Years
Even the way you sleep could affect your skin, Williams advises. “Try to sleep on your back as much as you can, and make sure the products you’re using are supposed to stay on your skin for extended hours.” For a boost of antioxidants for your face, Williams recommends Youth Corridor Antioxidant Boost with Melatonin.
Though you might think it’s best to dry out oily skin overnight, the opposite is true. “You need some oil to keep your skin healthy,” says Williams. Opt for a mask like Neova Illuminating Mask with Silica to revive skin and absorb excess oil as you snooze.
Hello, Healthy Hair
These days there are loads of overnight treatments for your hair (find our favorites here: Best New Hair Products“>. Williams says that no matter which formula you prefer, make sure you’re using the right amount for your hair type. “If you have coarse, thick hair you’ll need to apply the product from roots to the ends, as opposed with thin hair where you may only need to treat your roots.”
Whether you treat your hair at night or not, there’s one beauty practice everyone should do for healthier hair come morning. “Get a silk or satin pillow case to use as your beauty pillow,” says Williams. “Cotton cases absorb moisture from your skin and hair while you sleep but satin ones have a smoother surface, leaving you with shiny strands when you wake up.”

Beat Blowfish Face
Do you wake up bloated and puffy in the morning? If so, try these additional tips from Williams:
Watch what you eat: “If I ever wake up swollen around my eyes and nose in the morning, it’s usually due to what I ate the night before.” If this happens to you, cut out salt, dairy, and alcohol before bed and try sleeping propped up with a few pillows to elevate your face and keep swelling down.
Be mindful of your breathing: If you snore so much you actually wake yourself up (or the person sleeping next to you”>, try Breathe Right Nasal Strips for your skin and a good night’s sleep. They keep the nasal passage open as you sleep which also keeps swelling significantly down.
Knowing what you want and how to get it doesn’t apply just to your career and in the bedroom. Whether you’re shelling out $20 or $200, you should always leave the salon feeling like you’re in a shampoo commercial. Read these tips before your next visit.
16 Secrets to an Amazing Haircut
1. Think Ahead
Whether it’s adding a few face-framing layers or chopping it all off, consider your lifestyle and the time that you’re willing to spend on styling. Is your morning routine more get-up-and-get-out-the-door, or do you wake up with time allotted to put yourself together? Are you willing to incorporate new styling tools and products into your regimen?
The bottom line: You don’t want your new haircut to compete with your everyday routine.

2. Seek Help
Read our user reviews to seek out a new salon or stylist. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that women like you are sharing their experiences. This method is also good to avoid shell shock if a cut costs $100 when you’re expecting to pay $50.
3. Sit for a Consultation
“Let your stylist know what you have liked and have not liked about haircuts in the past,” says Ryan Trygstad, Hollywood hairstylist. Elaborate on as many details as you can — for example, how much time you realistically have to spend on your hair, where you part your hair, if you have a cowlick, etc. The more information you give, the better idea your stylist will have.
4. Bring Visuals
“I tell clients that pictures are very helpful when understanding a client’s personal style and taste,” says Trygstad. This tactic will guarantee that both of you are on the same page.
5. Only Use the Lingo if You’re Savvy
“Avoid using hairdressing terms if you don’t fully understand what they mean,” says Elaine Mitchell, senior creative director for Sassoon Salon NYC Uptown. “For example, ‘graduation’ and ‘layering’ sound like they could be synonymous, but they actually have opposite meanings. Graduation creates a cut that is heavier and longer on top by building weight in the hair through cutting layers underneath. Layering makes the hair lighter and gives it volume and lift through internal layers.”
6. Be Realistic
Sometimes we just have to face the facts — those of us with a curly mass of hair will probably not be able to get Jennifer Aniston’s sleek and straight hair without a lot of work. With that said, if you are bringing in pictures, make sure that your tress-piration looks like she has a hair type similar to yours.
7. Trust Your Stylist
Don’t let yourself be swayed one way or another if you have a firm desire for a certain look. At the same time, listen to your stylist’s suggestions and trust his or her expertise. “A good stylist will take into account your face shape, complexion, and features, and then create a look that best suits you,” says Mitchell, “all while keeping in mind what you initially wanted.”
8. Know the Tools
Although you wouldn’t second-guess which tools your plumber is using to fix your drain, it’s different with your hairstylist. For example, clients who have curly or coarse hair should stay away from a razor. “This technique tends to shred the hair follicle,” says Trygstad. “On curly- and coarse-hair types, it tends to look damaged.”
“At Sassoon, we have a strict philosophy that focuses on maintaining the integrity of the hair,” adds Mitchell. “Razors have the potential to be damaging, so we only cut with scissors.”
9. Pay Attention
For decades, women have turned to their hairstylists for quality conversations. But chatting too much can have adverse effects. Be warned: Talking can be distracting for both you and your stylist.
10. Communicate
If you find your stylist is headed in the wrong direction, don’t be timid — let him or her know. More often than not, it’s easier to make adjustments during your cut than afterward. “If you feel uncomfortable any time during the cut, always speak up,” says Mitchell. “Your stylist wants you to be completely satisfied, and for that to happen, you have to be vocal.”
11. Inquire Within
“During your service, ask questions,” says Donna Zawislak, stylist and field education leader for Hair Cuttery. “Have your stylist show you what products or tools to use and how to apply/use them to complete your look.”
12. Be Courteous
This should go without saying, but don’t be late — even 15 minutes is pushing it. Your stylist is on a tight schedule just like you, and any ripples in her day can cause stress. Plus, you don’t want her to take out her stress on you. You want a relaxed, easygoing appointment.
13. Don’t Forget to Tip
Most experts agree that 15 to 20 percent of the cut cost, before tax, is the average tip for your hairstylist. Of course, feel free to add in a few bucks if she did a stellar job or if your hair is down to your butt. If there are assistants helping out, don’t forget them. Slip the shampoo assistant around $5 and an additional 10 to 15 percent to the one who helps with your blow-out.
14. Money-Saving Tip
Some salons charge $5 or less for a bang trim, but you can try to trim them at home if you’re feeling daring. “For a blunt line, use straight shears,” says Zawislak.
15. Tousled Waves
One of the most popular styles for summer is beachy, seemingly disheveled hair. If you want this to be your default ‘do for this season, ask for medium-to-long layers that fall a few inches below your shoulders. This style is flattering for all face shapes and hair types, except for those who have tight ringlets. You can also fake bombshell waves like Jennifer Garner’s by wrapping 1-inch sections around a 1- to 1 1/2-inch curling iron.
16. Going Short
The perfect solution to getting your hair off your neck is to keep it short. Close-cropped cuts look best on slender and oval faces (think Halle Berry”>, while chin-length bobs are good for round and heart-shaped faces like Jessica Stroup’s. Don’t forget: Whenever you get a cut where your mane is completely off your shoulders, have your stylist clean up hairs on your neck with an electric razor. This will sharpen up the lines and give the look a fresh finish.

In Your 20s: Be Fearless
We chatted with celebrity hairstylist Moulay Yacoubi of New York City’s Pierre Michel Salon to find the perfect hairstyle for everyone, whether you’ve just graduated college or just met your first grandchild.
If you’re a twenty something, it’s the perfect time to take a risk. “Experiment with all kinds of looks,” says Yacoubi. “Go for a short pixie style, like Miley Cyrus or Rihanna—after consulting with your stylist, of course.” If you want to keep your hair long, Yacoubi suggests traying a side swept low pony or braided look for spring.
In Your 30s: Effortless Elegance
When you’re hitting your stride in your 30s, Yacoubi suggests trying a sexy angular or wavy shoulder length bob, like January Jones or Emily Blunt. “Whether you’re in the process of starting a family or focusing on your career, you should pick a hairstyle that fits your life,” says Yacoubi. “These are great options for someone with a busy lifestyle.”
In Your 40s: Try a Longer Look
Just because you’ve hit the big 4-0, doesn’t mean you have to resolve yourself to a short cut. Yacoubi loves Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston’s long understated yet elegant waves.

In Your 50s: Lots of Layers
A modern cut with piece-y layers in the front is the perfect look for when you pass that 50-year milestone. “Steer clear of the spiky pixie style,” says Yacoubi. “It sends the message that you’re trying too hard to look good.”
In Your 60s (and Beyond”>: Soft Highlights
Color is key to ensure that you continue looking fabulous into your golden years. But as for cut, Yacoubi suggests sticking with a chic, layered bob. Dress it up for spring with an elegant chignon or ladylike hair accessory.
