Dear CurlySuzy: I am looking for curly hair products (shampoo, conditioner and styling stuff”> that is paraben-free. Do you have any suggestions? I have type 3A hair.
Dear Beth: Here is a list of products that are paraben-free. Hope this helps and please email me if you have more questions.
A good combination is Jessicurl Gentle Lather Shampoo and Jessicurl Aloeba Daily Conditioner. You can also buy a trial-size package of Jessicurl products.
A great new line — one of my favorites — is HPO Spa Spa Treatments. Try Hair & Body Shampoo and Spa Hair Conditioner.
These two products are a Holy Grail combo for many curlies: Curl Keeper and AG Re:coil.
Apply the Curl Keeper on very wet hair and follow with the AG Re:coil. Curl Keeper is a leave-in that really helps with frizz and definition. It’s like a light, leave-in conditioner. AG Re:coil is a curl activator and has some hold to it. It’s very concentrated, so a little goes a long way.Two great leave-in conditioners that work with any gel or mousse John Masters Organics Citrus Neroli Detangler and HPO Simply Curly Conditioning Styling Pudding. I like leave-ins for that added moisture, but don’t use too much or you will have weighed-down curls.
If you’re a mousse fan, here are some options — from lightest to firmest: AG Foam Weightless Volumizer and AG Hair Cosmetics Mousse Gel.
DevaCare Arc AnGell is a good gel. It dries with a glaze, but can be scrunched for soft, defined curls.
