Evelyn is our resident Social Media & Community Manager. She also happens to have her own widely successful YouTube channel, EvelynFromTheInternets. Seeing as though she already has had years worth of specialized insight into a niche market only few get to thrive in, we just had to pick Evelyn’s brain on what makes a YouTube or social media personality…happen.

Step 1: Find Your Niche.

Be specific. There are literally millions of videos about natural/curly hair–focus your channel on the expertise that fits your niche.

Step 2: Stay Consistent.

Ok, I don’t even follow my own advice. Do as I say, not as I do. Create a schedule of filming, editing, and uploading your videos according to what you can manage.

Step 3: Brand Yourself.

From your editing style, the font and branding you use–it all attributes to your personal aesthetic.

Step 4: Be authentic.

It is easy to try serving face like Beauty By Lee–I can barely draw on my eyebrows. All I can be is me, so you be you!

Step 5: Get Interactive.

Article continues after video.

So you uploaded your first video? Congrats! It doesn’t stop there–be active on social media, make real live connections with the online gurus you follow.

What’s your YouTube? Let us know in the comments below so we can check your channel out.
