These tools are a must for better natural wave formation.
Type 2 wavy hair is beautiful once you learn what works well with it. Of course, the products you use are important, but there are also some tools necessary for helping to make the styling process easier and faster, as well as leaving waves feeling healthier.
Q-Redew
The summertime and humidity gives my waves such lovely definition, but as the weather gets colder and drier, they can sometimes fall limp. I love using the Q-Redew portable handheld steamer on day two and three hair in cold weather to enhance the natural definition in my strands while adding moisture. This tool is a must for those who work out and need to make that dreaded ponytail dent disappear in a hurry. Throughout the years, I have found this, paired with DevaCurl Set It Free Moisture Spray, to make the ultimate duo. If I want to add steam to my deep treatment and allow the product to penetrate even deeper, I turn to the Q-Redew.
Ricky’s NYC No-Crease Clips
These clips are such a must. Not only is my hairline curlier than the rest of my head but on top of that, the square-shaped curls are not cute. Enter Ricky’s NYC No-Crease Clips. They come in a variety of shapes, and my favorite is the signature Ricky’s logo tubes. I clip them along my hairline while drying and stretching my hair. When I remove them, I am not left with the obvious clip marks once I remove them. Brilliant!
T3 Featherweight Luxe 21 Dryer
I prefer air drying whenever possible, but it takes hours. When I am short on time or if it is too cold out for leaving the house with wet hair, I blow dry. Currently, I use the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2I Dryer with the Deva Fuser attachment. Per the T3micro.com website, the dryer is “infused with Tourmaline SoftAire technology, responsible for quick, healthy drying, and an ion generator for its frizz-reducing, gloss-boosting power.”
DevaFuser
The Deva Fuser is my favorite diffuser. Devacurl.com says “This unique, universal diffuser delivers 360-degree airflow to completely surround curls even at your roots. The patented DevaFuser design enhances the appearance of natural curls, dries curly hair faster than traditional diffusers, while creating extreme body and touchable volume.” Though sadly nothing seems to dry my hair too fast, I like it because I notice significantly less frizz and pouf when I use it vs. blow drying with typical bowl diffusers.
The Original Curly Tee Towel
After showering and applying my styling products, I like to wrap my hair in this towel. Its unique shape ensures that mine will stay put while I do my skin care and body care regimens. The 100% pure jersey knit material allows the towel to absorb excess water without disturbing my hair or products applied, leading to less frizz and more manageability.
T3 Source Hand-Held Shower Filter
I have been using the T3 Hand-Held for more than three years now. Since then, my hair and skin have felt softer; my hair looks shinier as well. According to the site, the filter “removes 95% of chlorine and other impurities… transforming chlorine into harmless elements that are too large to be absorbed by hair and skin. The result is a noticeable improvement in hair health, hair color retention and even skin hydration. It’s the simplest and most effective way to make a clean sweep in your beauty routine.” If your hair has been stubbornly unmanageable and frizzy despite the products you use, the water coming out of your showerhead might be the problem.
