Tea tree oil, also known scientifically as Melaleuca alternifolia, is an essential oil that has been extracted from a plant native to Australia and cannot be found naturally occurring elsewhere.
This oil is widely known for its topical antiseptic and antifungal treatment or infection-reducing benefits. Tea tree oil also has antibiotic properties aids against ailments like skin infections, rashes, burns, dandruff and much more.
As far as the hair is concerned, tea tree oil helps fight dry and itchy scalps and also can help combat dandruff thanks to the effective moisturizing properties within the oils. Though there is no scientific or clinical proof, I have read time and time again Tea Tree Oil also can help support hair growth. Thanks to its antiseptic and antifungal properties mentioned before, this oil creates the optimum condition on your scalp to grow hair. DIY Lice Prevention Spray
Although some studies have shown that tea tree oil is effective as a lice prevention treatment, there are not enough long-term studies to recommend it as a definitive prevention tool. That said, there are hundreds upon hundreds of anecdotal claims that it has been effective for families for years. If you are spraying a conditioning spray to detangle and keep your hair moisturized daily, you might as well add in some of this oil in for the potential benefits.
Directions
1. Using an eyedropper, drop 2-3 drops of pure tea tree oil (per ounce of liquid”> in a spray bottle full of water or a leave-in conditioner. 2. Shake well. 3. Spray on hair, rub in with your hands to distribute evenly, and style as usual.You may also spray a little extra on your scalp and massage it in.
If you want to try and amp up the benefits, feel free to add 2 to 3 drops to your shampoo and conditioner. Do a patch test to make sure you are not allergic to tea tree oil if you have never used it before. If any reaction occurs, stop use immediately. Find tea tree oil at your local health store.
