You can have celebrity skin, too!
You don’t have to be a Hollywood star to look like one! Celebrities want to look their best for red carpet events and you, too, can be picture perfect for your special day.
Maintenance and planning are the keys to perfect skin. Trying to get gorgeous skin overnight is not going to happen; you have to plan in advance.
So how do you achieve that beautiful glow? It starts on the inside and works its way outward. Great skin needs nutrition because your skin is the largest living organ in your body and it needs to be feed nutrients. Good eating habits combined with drinking a lot of water and regular exercise will do magical things to your body. Take your program a step further and add vitamins and antioxidants into your diet.
Start months before a special event to achieve beautiful skin. Great skin means you get on a regular skin care program. And never go to bed with makeup on your face. Cleanse your skin and apply rejuvenating skin care products for your skin type before bedtime. The night is when your skin will start to repair itself—and who wouldn’t want to look younger in the morning?
So here’s your guide to celebrity beauty secrets:
Deep Cleansing Facials or Chemical Exfoliation/Peels: Start doing this about 3 months before an event. One or two treatments a month will get your skin back in shape. I prefer chemical or enzyme peels to remove the thick, dead, cellular buildup many clients have when they are not on a good skin care program. And the better your home care program, the better your results will be when you do have professional treatments.
Don’t forget the sunscreen if you go outside!
Remove surface scars, fine lines and wrinkles with laser treatments. This is a more aggressive way of helping to smooth and rejuvenate skin texture and tone. You will experience redness and swelling after a treatment, so plan in advance to get the best results. Home care is critical to help the skin heal smoothly. This is definitely a procedure performed months ahead of time. I love the Pixel laser treatments because you can do them as close as a month apart without much downtime.
Injectable facial fillers are another way to look younger instantly as they fill in the deep lines around the mouth area and can help pump up vertical lips lines. Do this treatment at least one to two weeks before a special event as you may have some bruising around the injection site. Fillers normally last about a year and my favorite is Juvederm from Allergan. Botox is another favorite to keep the lines between the brows and on the forehead in a relaxed state, thus preventing deep wrinkles. Botox lasts about 3-4 months.
Use alpha or beta hydroxy acids (AHAs”> and retinols to help reverse the aging process. These products cause the skin to peel, which helps to remove damaged skin cells and creates a smoother skin texture over time. They also will make you sun-sensitive and should be used only with sunscreens. Nighttime is the best time to use this type of product and combine it with a skin hydrating/ moisturizing treatment to prevent excess irritation. This point is crucial because not all products are going to work for your skin type. Read the labels and directions before using them to avoid an allergic reaction. Example: when using retinol products, you do not wear them outside as they make you sun sensitive, damaging your skin. But wear a retinol product several times a week to bed, and you will see smoother and younger-looking skin.
Stay out of the SUN!!! Your skin ages dramatically with sun exposure. Yes, you do need sunshine to stay healthy but watch the number of hours you go outside and wear a sunscreen. Remember that age spots are really sun damaged skin caused by tanning.
