This November was filled with emotion from many different news stories to have to wade through, but while I could have gotten easily hung up on all of the sad stuff, there was still plenty to make me feel proud to be part of the naturally curly community.

Curls Girls Rule the World Empowerment Luncheon
This is an amazing lunch-in is done by the CEO and Founder of CURLS and its focus is to empower teens with a productive and effective mentor program. Over 75 girls were in attendance and introduced to celebrity mentors who were able to share their backgrounds as well as discuss their hopes for the future.

My Natural Doll: Keleshe
This doll was created to remind children with natural hair that their texture is beautiful. This doll’s curly hair is created from Kinky Curly 100% virgin African-textured hair from the Runway Curls Classic Collection with the hopes of teaching young girls how to care for and style their own curly-coily hair.

The We Are Girls Conference is an annual event that goes through the issues of bullying, body image and being a girl with workshops and dynamic presentations. This year’s theme was ‘Find your power’ to encourage girls to interpret it as finding the power for whatever they may need it for in their personal lives.

Kamala Harris, the Second Black Woman Elected to the U.S. Senate
Kamala Harris made history this month and became the second black woman to be elected to the U.S. Senate. She spent six years as California’s attorney general which has made her a hot topic for being a possible democratic nominee in the 2020 election.What has made you proud this month?
