Zendaya Fires Back At Giuliana Rancic For Insulting Her Faux Locs

Singer-actress Zendaya Coleman wore faux locs as a protective style to her naturally curly hair to the 2015 Oscars. Giuliana Rancic, host of E!’s Fashion Police, known for its harsh remarks about celebrity fashion, said Coleman must have smelled of “patchouli oil and weed” based on her hairstyle. The star didn’t take the comment lightly, and wrote an open letter on her social media last night in response:

In her open letter, Coleman says, “There is already harsh criticism of African American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair…To me, locs are a symbol of strength and beauty, almost like a lion’s mane.” Rancic took to Twitter in return to apologize:
